1) Billy Joy’s primary concern throughout this article is the fact that technology has advanced entirely too fast. We are at the point that robots will eventually rule the world. It won’t happen overnight, but will happen throughout a couple years. I think Bill Joy addressed this issue particularly because he has a strong background in technology and definitely knows what he is talking about.
2) The techniques that he uses throughout the paper really help his argument. It is obvious that it is something that he has issues about and has constantly been reading up through books, magazines, etc. He has also had several conversations with esteemed people in the field of technology, who also have a legitimate concern towards the issue. I like the way that the paper is set up generally. His use of creating a narrative while still constructing a proposal was phenomenal. I think that he puts his proposal and addressing of the issue throughout the paper when he talks about his own life and career. The readers knows that he works for technology, but then he states that he didn’t want to get involved for basically destroying mankind. I really find his use of including paragraphs from books to be the most useful. In the paper, the readers don’t just come across one paragraph from a book. He is constantly referencing the books. Even when he just talks about a new subject, he takes his point and then physically shows the reader that someone else is thinking the same thing.
3) Personally, I find this problem to not really be a large issue. Yes, there are people who constantly trying to manipulate technology for weapons of mass destruction. Yes, technology has become abused and overused. But there is far more benefits coming from this creation than harm. Today, people are really benefiting from the creation of technology because diseases and illnesses are constantly being researched, different user-friendly devices have come out for people to purchase etc. I don’t think it’s about the fear of robots. This was a notion that people worried about in the 1950s. People would rather check Facebook than try to take over the world with the use of robots.
